Idea #9315: Restore files from Trash

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #60: Restore deleted items trash bin.
Written by nelson.blaha the 31 May 08 at 21:14. Category: Look and Feel. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Users should be able to right-click a file in Trash and choose to restore it to its original location. I've found myself looking for this function for a long time before I realize I'm remembering it from XP.

Come on. This is 2008 and we can't restore files from the trash. It's pretty sad that KDE and XFCE have had this feature for a long time and Gnome still doesn't....

Come on guys. Do a search first. This is a duplicate of idea 60 (SIXTY, thats just after the big bang).

...and I found it by the exhaustive process of searching for the single word "trash". How hard is that!!!

...AND someone has marked #60 as being the duplicate. Its the other way around, sorry.

100% agree. I have to copy and paste files from trash to destination which is extremely tiring.

I also 100% agree.

see the "report duplicates" button. it works

nelson.blaha wrote on the 1 Jun 08 at 14:53
Gazilla, I simply read all the entries in the automated dupe finder before submitting. 60 was not in there.

In any case, I think people like you are missing the point of brainstorm.

By the way, one little suggestion: I think this idea should better be in "Accessibility" instead of "Look and feel".

GVFS (half-implemented in Hardy) is capable of this. Spect this feature for Intrepid.

nelson.blaha: Why are people who point out that your idea is a dupe missing the point of Brainstorm?
Are you suggesting that the point of Brainstorm is a collection of identical and similar ideas that can't be used anymore because there are too many dupes lying around?

Or do you just want to attack Gazilla because he pointed out that your idea is a dupe?

nelson.blaha wrote on the 1 Jun 08 at 18:57
I feel that they're missing the point because the point is not to accrue honors but to improve ubuntu. I don't care who gets this idea rolling or whose name is on it, I just think it would be nice to have this feature.

I think there's trolling going on, so I'll say nothing more about this.
