Description
The DVD player is already very common even in cheaper machines. The CD has a very limited space, and with a DVD would be many possibilities.
In a DVD of 9 GB can put extra packages, full support for all languages, with video tutorials, and more.
Users without Internet connection can install programs, packages and other resources.
The cost of transmission and production would be practically the same.
This idea should be put into practice even as a opicional.

"Can You Send DVDs?
Ubuntu and Kubuntu DVDs are now available for purchase from Amazon.com if you live in the United States. Some vendors who sell Ubuntu CDs may also make DVDs available for purchase from time to time. You can visit the purchase page to see the latest Amazon DVD links and the links to other vendors around the world who sell Ubuntu media. "

@ Vadim P.:
That's right, but You're talking about non-free shipment. Shipit is made in order to provide Ubuntu drives for free, and as far as cost of producing Ubuntu DVDs is similar to that of making CDs I think it is fully justified to provide DVDs for free, too.

yes, on a double layer dvd you can have around 35% of the whole binary repository of one architecture, but some old hardware may have only cd readers...
Earlier Ubuntu came from shipit.ubuntu.com into 2 cds / one livecd and other installcd (alternate) - ubuntu coming into 3 doublelayered dvds (1 livecd and two extra dvds) would be interesting - or maybe everything into one bluray...
