Description
We're at 900,175 votes now. My idea is to heavily publicize the 1 millionth Brainstorm vote to build some more buzz around Brainstorm and Ubuntu.

This is a significant amount of direct user feedback on the distibution from all levels of users. It is an accomplishment.

Let's just hope it's not a silly idea then.

Good point, http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/contributor/schmappel/">schmappel. But I think it is possible to downplay the actual idea in the case that it's a negative vote on a bad idea. The idea is to promote the fact of a million votes, not the idea it is on.

This is indeed quite an accomplishment : one million votes in around three months, that's quite something!

But the number of votes is only one of the factors that would make Brainstorm a success. One of the other factors is the usefulness of Brainstorm for the developers. At the moment, it is not optimal: a good portion of the ideas concerns specific piece of software, and there is no easy way to "tag" an idea to a software. That's something we are working on.

The bottom line is, we have reached one of our goals (popularity), but there are still some improvements needed!

Good idea.

I completely agree with nand.

Many people suggest ideas, but do nothing to promote or implement it (even if you don't know how to implement it, you should find someone which is interested in implementing your idea).

ofir_k, I don't think that was nand's point. He was just saying that there is no efficient way to channel Brainstorm info to developers on individual projects and that we need improvement there.

There is no reason to think that users who suggest ideas have or should have the ability to get them implemented (either by persuation or own direct efforts).

As nand says we need a way to categorize ideas by applications in cases where that makes sense (some ideas are not application specific, like this one...)

Brainstorm development has progressed so quickly though that I have no doubt they will add this in the near future.
