Description
apple's iChat is able to comunicate with other iChat users on the same network without any configuration, using bonjur. It would be nice to have a chat program that could use avahi to find people to chat with on the same network.

I think ubuntu should bet more on zeroconf technology...

This is already implemented in pidgin which is shipped by default. Just add a Bonjour account.

I agree with this. When I was working at the apple premium reseller, We used bonjour for the entire internal network chat (although, it may be running jabber by now), but in the showroom it was great, because we could demo ichat without setting up accounts.

telepathy is not an application, it's a framework.

witch application implements this? can you do zero conf chatting, video and voice conferencing?

And in gajim too - "link-local messaging". Works nice ith iChat people.
