Description
Put the new version 2.46 of Blender in the repository.

http://www.blender.org/development/release-logs/blender-246/

It contains a huge amount of improvements.

* New sampling methods; Halton sequence (Adaptive QMC) and a Hammersley sequence (Constant QMC).
* Raytracing now also supports adaptive sampling
* API improvements.
* More Python script additions.
* Cubic shading
* Ray-traced soft shadows
* 2D filter compositing
* Rewritten particle system
Lots of lots more!

Blender is a "killer app", so its important with an update.

Agreed, B(l)ender is getting more awesome every release. There is no doubt in my mind that commercial 3D software companies should be very afraid.

As much as I like Blender, could you please stop abusing Brainstorm for version bumps of this or that package? Thanks.

Besides, since Hardy is stable now, there is only little chance this will happen.

I doesn't make sense to create a new idea for every upstream release. If you urgently need an updated package contact its maintainer.

I have to agree with the two people above me. This will be in Intrepid.

Intrepid is in many hours.

This is a killer app which brings many new features, we cannot wait many months.

Dupe of idea #5712 (reported)

@Eldmannen: get a package maintainer to put it in hardy-backports or in their private "PPA" respository for you.

Eldmannen wrote on the 20 May 08 at 21:35
andersja,
It's 2.46 final, not rc (release candidate)

ask for a hardy deb or a third party repository that provides this software.

or you can just download the software yourself and run it....

The repositories are for the most part frozen once the latest distro is released. so go through the backports or download it yourself from the website.

I agree.

This should be requested in Launchpad.
