Idea #8758: Preload next photo in F-SPOT

Written by svergeylen the 18 May 08 at 13:24. Category: Graphics. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Hi,

I would like to precharge the next and previous photo in F-SPOT to avoid the blurred image.

At this moment, when you browse your photos woth the "next" button, it takes nearly one second to load completely the image.

It will be a really improve if F-SPOT could pre-load 1 (or more) images to avoid this delay.

Thanks

It will be good to add simple keys for next/previous photo too. like [SPACE] [BACKSPACE], left/right arrow. +1

I'm developing a better imageviewer software, plus quicklook for linux

Take a look at it, and if you like I'll put more effort on it!

That looks very interesting any chance of having a deb for the project. Cover flow for an image browser is very useful.

I cant find any source code either.

Anyway good luck.

I haven't posted the code yet I'll do when I have it cleaned a bit and with a lot of comments!!

If anyone wants to help me send me an e-mail you can find it at sourceforge page!

Any reason why you are using Sourceforge than Laundpad, SF is very unintuituve.

Probably same reason I am.. SF has more features

A bug in Gnome Bugzilla with a (little bit old?) patch:

This is not a Ubuntu issue, but F-Spot issue. Theese are not thing that Ubuntu 'developers' can fix.

Try to spam real F-Spot developers so they make this app fly..

6205:

Since Ubuntu devs chose to make F-spot a default photo app, this is an Ubuntu issue too. F-spot is in main repository, and Canonical is somehow responsible for it's shape. Developers can update the patch and include it (they already patch many programs, this isn't something unusual).

Spamming anyone would be only a trouble, not help. F-spot developers are already aware of the problem.
