This is a cheap way to promote Ubuntu to all your friends in Myspace!

Totally for it; even though I don't use myspace myself, but its really simple thing to do, but can change a lot!

I vote +0 for this idea.

The problem is, myspace tends to cater towards your less tech oriented crowd (your kids and your emo's, and your people who don't care about a computer for anything other then emailing).

Maybe Facebook? But I don't think Myspace is the correct crowd. Sorry

Well even Emos need to have a OS from which they can post their "sobby videos" and Linux is wonderfully complicated so they would have one reason more slit their wrists. ;-)
Anyway the banner is easy to make if you know what you're doing so yes it could be promoted on all of the social network sites.
BTW what about Second Life I hear it's pretty big thing...
