Probably it would be sufficient to, if you click on a ID, not only get the person's ideas but a way to send a single email message to them where you can request they contact you via your email address.

If its private, you start to get spam issues, and small groups of friends forming who vote for each others ideas.

Following jhoger comment, I see:
In the user page (to come very soon), put a "Contact xxxx" link, with a textbox and a send button. No email address shown.
A brainstormer use this textbox to send a message to another brainstormer. The addressee receive the message in his mailbox, and can reply directly to the sender email, if he wants.

To avoid spam:
- Email address are never shown on the website.
- Brainstormers would be able to disable private messages.
- A brainstormer shall wait a given amount of time between each sending, e.g. 1 minute.
