Idea #8012: Copy/paste in terminal

Related to: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Description
It is logical that text is copied as soon as you select it with your mouse in terminal (like in PUTTY on Windows). Because the only reason to select it is to copy it (you would not cut it).

Also user may want to choose what to do when right mouse is clicked in terminal: to show popup menu or to paste text.

The menu appears with right-click.
If you want to paste, you can click on middle-click.

Which terminal application are you referring to???

In Gnome Terminal and KDE Konsole, highlighted text IS automatically copied.

It is already implemented, only the information apparently isn't there. One way to do it, would be, if a text is selected, to change the title of the terminal window into "middle click at target location to paste selected text" (or something shorter than that)

I don't want to see my second clipboard used by selected text in terminal as long as its already in the first one.
(supposing select+middle click > first clipboard, ctrl+C ans ctrl+v > second one)

I don't think that is logical.
What if you accidentally select text, while you already have something important saved in the "copy buffer."

It's logical to think the only reason to select text is to highlight the text or copy it in the future.
I just think there should be one more step after that to copy it to the buffer.
Good news, this is already implemented, like middle click.

Are you saying you want to remove already existing functionality from the terminal?
I'm sorry, but I don't agree.
