Idea #7971: All menu items should say what kind of application they are

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #7769: Transmission menu item.
Written by daretoeatapeach the 2 May 08 at 05:23. Category: Accessibility. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Every menu item should say what kind of application it is. This will make it much easier for new users to find an application to do something.

Ex: The menu just says ``Transmission'' where it could say ``Transmission BitTorrent Client''.

This would at least double the size of the menus (when others are complaining about screen real-estate issues), and hover pop-ups already describe the applications.

if you stop mouse on the item, then a short description is shown. i think this is enough...

I think this is dumbing things down a bit too much. If you don't know what the application does, start it up and look around. Read its About and Help file information.

The comment about having that show up when you mouseover is not bad.
