Idea #7969: Ubuntu pre-installed on the usb drives

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #16: LiveUSB.
Written by eyerouge the 2 May 08 at 04:06. Category: System. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Canonical store is already selling 1 GB usb flash drives. Why not start selling 2, 3 or 4 GB drives with latest Ubuntu pre-installed on them?

This would allow users to bring their beloved system everywhere and would also be a great way to promote the system. It could either be optional when you order the flash, or the user could simply be free to erase the system from it if he/she wants to use it as a regular storage devise. There are plenty of ways to solve this.

It's actually quite astonishing this isn't in the store already.

I like it...

would prop need some tweaking... but taking your own OS with you all the time sounds like a sweet idea... though i wonder how much computers use USB ports as a default boot option now a days...

There are no 3 gb flash drives, but you can buy 8 and 16 gb drives...

If this can bring profit to Canonical, then I am all for it. :)

The problem is probably that the shop isn't run by Canonical itself but by merchandisemania.co.uk
