Description
Developer comments
While the point is valid in principle, the idea doesn't have enough detail to be implemented ;)
Seriously, that is in part what this site is for, but posting actual suggestions for concrete issues is more helpful.

To developers: What do you mean by posting actual suggestions? The the page I give has screenshots with concrete cases!

AnRa, I really like some of the ideas on the page you link to. Perhaps if you were to post your suggestions separately? This would make it clearer over exactly what people are voting for.

AnRa, sorry I missed the link before. Mr Al is right though; it would be helpful if you posted the ideas separately. As it stands, the title of this idea can refer to a thousand different little changes, beyond what you describe on that wiki page. I agree that many of those ideas are good.

I would like to see each one of those changes on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LittleDetails implemented. I think they are good suggestions and some have been annoying to me, especially the lack of an eject/unmount button when in the top level directory of a mounted flash drive. It should be easy for the user to see and do

Something that has urked me about Linux in general for awhile is the inability to just eject the damn CD like I can do in Windows. When I push the button on the side of my notebook or on my computer, I wait, then realize that it's not coming, think, then right-click unmount, then /finally/ can I hit that eject button. I want to be able to just hit the button and get my CD.

You can do that in other distros,Ubuntu needs that too.

This does need attention, The concept that is. This is probably one of the more difficult things to tackle.
While I am not a programmer, in my experience as a electronics tech, I have designed and built various devices. It is not that difficult for me to build something, however to make it a true piece of art, you have to make it efficient, it has to work smoothly, without flaw for everyone who may use it, in whatever way it was designed to be used.
This is what I believe is lacking in the Linux community as a whole. You can for instance plug in a new mouse, and it will work for the most part, however if you have a mouse with a tilting scroll wheel, side buttons, and other various features, they probably WONT work right - right out of the box. You have to search and search to get it "somewhat working", and this is the problem I think the original poster means. Ubuntu works well out of the box, but there are alot of things that seem unfinished.
As the developer says, you have to identify EACH of the things that seem unfinished, define what it is and submit it. This means better collaboration between the developers and the users, and I think this site is the best way to do it, or at least a very good start.
Again, the real challenge for us the end users is to DEFINE EACH OF THE THINGS that I have termed as "unfinished" and submit it.

I would welcome the eject button although I find the proposed icon slightly confusing

Just posting to agree entirely with recluse2. It's the general level of, and attitude towards, finesse and polish overall. So often, there is an unwritten "Your Mileage May Vary" caveat with things. And before all the little details are sorted out, we hear about new features, forks, replacements, all with little details of their own that need to be addressed.
Collaboration between end users and developers is certainly a big part of solving the problems, but there are some things that really should go with out saying. For example; the broken application manual search in the Help on every version of Kubuntu I've tried since 6.06 LTS.

Eject idea on media is Great (except the icon needs tinkering).
Same icons would be useful, except some images sized down would be too smudgy.
The keyboard navigation sounds great, just not the alpha-selection, unless it were a toggle option.
Intelligent trash works.
Content-sensitive emblems is a great idea
