It should not be a messy complete name. Only three numbers at the most, or simply optional columns.

It is not like this because Add/Remove is for adding and removing.

If you want to deal with versions take a look at the Update Manager.

It can be useful: I or a friend consulting me may want to accomplish a certain task and install a program for that. If the feature was recently added to the program, it can be useful to know the version to decide if I can accomplish the specific task with that version.
The version number is present already in the package list and can be easily added to the gui in a non-destractive way; why not adding it?
