The title is an example of idea i think Brainstorm have to hide : Some ideas are too logical.

Examples :
- Add software 2.0 and not software 1.9
- Support acpi
- Speed Up boot time
- Better wi-fi support
- ...

In fact, these ideas are good ideas and everyone will vote for. But little ideas but good ideas are hidden because can't obtain same scores.

We can vote "for" or "against" an idea. We could clic on a "too logical" button and if "too logical" have a important score we hide this ideas. A visitor could watch all ideas, but by defaut done and "too logical" should be hides.

Do you really think you are the first one to ever even consider this idea? There are an uncountable number of developers working on the GNU project, the Linux kernel, all of the applications included in the repos, and Ubuntu itself. Do you really believe they wouldn't make their respective projects "perfect" if they could?

Yeh, the description pretty much sums up the problem with brainstorm. Too many ideas are not really ideas at all. More like obvious requests which get voted up because they are so obvious that nobody is going to disagree.

So, can we now just mark all those "ideas" as duplicates of this idea? ;)

I had to read the description about a dozen times to try to figure out what the idea actually is.

Am pretty sure I have it now, so please indulge me while I summarise; Any ideas that are obvious (as yekcim says "too logical") should hidden. Reasoning is that there is no point having them as candidates for votes because, as tromboneman suggests, all developers are already trying to "make their respective projects perfect".

Must admit I'm getting pretty tired of seeing the same suggestions being made over and over. Don't know haw many times "Speed up booting" and "better wi-fi support" have been suggested. :-( There have also been a tediously large number of "include ver Y instead of ver X" suggestions. :-\

Vote = +1

Sweet 8 lbs 7 oz. baby Jesus... I have seen this post up here all day and had no idea what the hell the guy was talking about. Then, in a poof of magic, my third eye opened and I understand. Its beautiful in fact. Yes, I agree, we should hide posts which are too vague. This is just a little too Zen though. +1

I kind of agree with this but when you see that the most popular idea ever is "Fix Suspend and Hibernate" you kind of think that is too logical, but it seriously need to be voted for so it gets fixed. Hide those "too logical ideas" would hide a problem that really needs to be addressed.

Who gets to hide the "too logical ideas"?

Also, too logical ideas can still be useful. For example if "Speed Up boot time" gets 3000 votes and "Better wi-fi support" gets 3 this might suggest that speeding up boot time should be prioritized over better wi-fi support.

Perhaps instead of having "too logical" ideas, we could have difficulties. We could approximate the priority of an idea as the number of votes divided by the difficulty, so that a semi-popular idea that requires a one line config change is ranked above "make Ubuntu perfect".
