Description
Wine is a great software that enables us to use windows softwares in linux. Wine will certainly help in creating better usability and effective use of softwares. With this application, we can have the best of both worlds at a single click away.

is Ubuntu for home use too? if yes, then we will have to agree that all software supports that we receive with our gadgets are for windows and mac only...including mobile pc suites, printer drivers and support, ipod- itunes, mobile software updates, and many more....
If we want to use these facilities then we need an OS that is providing it...if not, why would one want to change to something else???
Its good for us and for linux to have wine included in it

People who need wine, wont use linux.. I know that from experience working at an applecentre (the people who needed parallels, just installed windows).

Furthermore, this has been dicussed lots of times.. Check for dupes

"enables us to use windows softwares in linux" only on x86 & AMD64 Linux systems.

Even for x86 & AMD64 systems, I disagree with pre-including Wine. Make Wine readily available, yes. But, don't install by default.

There are many of us that neither have the need, nor the desire, to run or use Microsoft Windows software in Linux.

For those that do, Wine is a perfectly good product and I'd encourage them to use it where appropriate.

The idea in itself might be alright. The problem is that by DEFAULT, users should probably not be presented with Wine on a Linux desktop. I use Wine myself, but still, it is not valid for a default inclusion imho.

Well, there is a better version in the ideas. Where users are prompted to install wine when they click their first EXE. And they are warned of the risks.. Thats the best way, but there are dozens of ideas.

PS. I'm no longer marking dupes anymore, until the duplicates system gets fixed, so you guys will have to mark this

I think this idea MUST be implemented as soon as cygwin is provided by default at Windows install.

Wine is not useful by itself, it is needed by other programs for running, almost like a library.
You install a library as soon as you install something that needs it. Why should wine be there by default, when nothing that needs it is in the default install?
