Description
Like windows, Ubuntu should provide options for creating Desktop icons and inclusion in application menu whenever a new application is installed in the system. this will provide better usability and access to the program and enhance the overall accessibility of the system.

This is not a operating system issue, but rather from the package installers. Despite, I would suppose there are quite a lot of people who do not like to have their desktops cluttered with icons (including me).

Oh, come on! Right click on the icon and add it to the desktop if you want them there.

Why not just drag the menu entry on to your desktop if you really want a desktop icon?

I agree with all posted above. I do not like when the operating system does something like creating a desktop shortcut when I did not request it to be done.
