Description
When I install the language packs of my language, the Wikipedia search in Firefox still refers to the English Wikipedia.

But that is dumb.

If I speak german, I want to search the german Wikipedia.
If my language is set to Italian, I want to search the italian Wikipedia.
If I live in Finland, I want to search the Finnish (or Swedish) Wikipedia.

This makes sense, but might a bit difficult to implement.

I don't think it is that hard to implement, but I want to see localized search in addition to English search rather then instead.

chig00: Default behaviour should be to offer only the localized search imho.

If Firefox can tell which localization that should be used for the installed addons when the addons have several addons based on it's current languages, then this should be extremely easy.
Just change the top-domain in the file.

I always want to search english wikipedia. You are free to change the search yourself.

Yeah I think this is much more a Firefox issue than an Ubuntu one, but it's nice to point it. Still, take it up with Mozilla, man.

Or just start using YubNub, that's what I do! I routinely search English and German Wikipedia so YN offers me a fast way to switch per query.

I disagree. The search engine for localized wikipedia can be added, but I need English wikipedia even though I'm not English. It shouldn't be deleted.

"If I live in Finland, I want to search the Finnish (or Swedish) Wikipedia. " No, I'm quite sure you would want to search the finnish, and not the swedish, Wikipedia (thuogh I do see your point)...

Even if I speak Ethiopian I usually don't want to search the Ethiopian Wikipedia. There are handful of languages that are as comprehensive as the english Wikipedia, but most languages are not sufficient.

Good idea, most people don't know how to change this so it should be right from the start.
