Description
Emesene is now on its stable version 1.0 and is and awesome IM. It's Pidgin with aMsn's features.

Checked it out now.
Didn't see anything special that would make me use this as a separate MSN client when I already have it along with the other networks in pidgin.

No offence mate, but not a great idea

1) Its MSN messenger only.
2) Microsoft has been known to change the MSN messenger protocol.
3) MSN is not open.
4) Unlike Jabber, there is no free servers to host a msn server. You have to use the official Microsoft run server
5) Unlike jabber, we cant extend the protocol
6) Googletalk and Apple iChat support Jabber VERY well. So we have a few companies backing Jabber. I believe even the US military will be switching to Jabber
7) Secure/isolated environments love proprietry protocols like MSN.


Pidgin has its own set of problems (No AV, or interest in supporting AV), but I dont think we should throw it away for MSN.

Maybe a really good Jabber client (as you can access other networks using jabber), but MSN? Promoting MSN is like promoting a life of reverse engineering and products which are always inferior
