Description
I want to popularize Ubuntu in my school installing it on some old computers and I would promote it with throwaways etc. But I haven't got anyone that could help me and I haven't got much money. I would have more support maybe from sponsor like Google, Sun etc. along with Canonical.

I don't really get it ... What do you want Canonical/the comunity to do ?
I think the best way if you want to promote Ubuntu in your school is to talk about it with your headmaster/teacher/the person in charge of the computers, to ask him/her to install Ubuntu (maybe dual-booting ?) and things like that ...
In my school, that's what we did some years ago about Firefox and OpenOffice, and now, OpenOffice has replaced MS Office in all the computers, and firefox is avaible in most of them.

Also, something I noticed (to my great surprise) is that the Ubuntu stickers are a very efficient undirect advertisement - I've sticked one of them on my agenda, and since Wednesday (three schooldays, then), 4 people asked me about it (what is it, why would be linux so great and things like that). Didn't imagine of evangelizing that fast :)

Well, it's not too hard to just install Ubuntu or a derivative on the throwaways.

It would be awesome, however, to install Ubuntu on those throwaways and give them away to students. Just yea, get the person in charge of the school's computers because they tend not to want to waste things, unless they're totally incompetent that is.

(Though, at my school, there's a mix of different distros we threw on throwaways)

i have established a linux user group in my collage.

the people in the computer department have no idea what linux is and they are apprehensive of anything new!

i am doing everything myself...but even i am a noobi.
i definitely need guidance from experts but i have not been able to find any LoCo.
so please please have a forum where experts would provide support for student's initiative to use Ubuntu in their own schools
