Description
With low-latency audio Ubuntu could professionally be used as Digital Audio Workstations (DAW), it would be good for audio professionals to accomplish recording, editing and processing of audio and multimedia, such as in music production.
This would make Ubuntu an appealing choice for professional audio artists.

I am not sure we why we have Ubuntu Studio, but it does come with some audio software.
We should have low-latency audio support in Ubuntu too though, so that we can make audio on normal Ubuntu too..., not everyone want to install a special purpose distribution.

...Except that you can install the realtime kernel & JACK from the repos without installing Ubuntu Studio. Just like you can install KDE without installing Kubuntu.
In fact you can use the Ubuntu Studio metapackages in Synaptic to do it for you.

what you suggest will be implemented in the next version of pulseaudio so it will be integrated in the next Ubuntu version , if all goes has planed (pulseaudio is a dependancy for gnome I think).

jack is already a low latency audio server, which is made for this purpose.
give it a try :)
