Description
We need an easy to use scanning application for Ubuntu.

Even thought the necessary groundwork has been laid with libsane, an easy to use application for scanning images and text documents is still missing. When I say easy, I mean easy as "my grandmother can use it".

Choices:
Color or Grayscale (no B/W, nobody needs that!)

"Low Quality (e.g. for email)" or
"High Quality (e.g. for printing or photo album)"
[explanations in () should be visible, the resolution in dpi as well as the word resolution itself should if at all only be mentioned in a tooltip]

Area to Scan

All scans should be Jpeg (people needing something else, can very well use xsane, as they know what they are doing!)

We need
a preview button and
a scan button
a choice for the folder to save in (will be saved as default for the next time)
a name for the scanned image (to be selected either before or after the scan, both should be possible. But no file-chooser dialog should pop up for this!!! Too confusing!)

That's it that's all.
Well, a copy button should be available as well.

It is currently being developped :
http://live.gnome.org/GnomeScan

But it takes time because it's complicated and it's currently nearly a one-man project.

First focus on making the scanner actually work.

Then you might worry about the app.

(Angry since he has to use virtual box to use his scanner)

Also, should warm bulb on app load, not on first scan/preview.

Is xsane really not easy enough? I find it on par with any windows alternative. I plug in an all-in-one printer scanner faxer coffee maker, and 30 seconds later it's fully configured and xsane scans perfectly. -1
