Description
(Sorry for my bad English)
I know, it's a very important decision, but if Ubuntu will support Firefox 3.0, the Mozilla's browser must be STABLE.
Firefox 3.0 is planned to be released in June, that's why I ask to report the version of the new LTS release.
Please consider this idea seriously.
Thank you.

Firefox 3b5 will probly be default in the release. After b5 the only thing scheduled is polish.

Before the last release (7.04) Mark Shuttleworth put an open call out to developers to have their packages ready for release every 6 months to coincide with Ubuntu releases. Thus ensuring Ubuntu users would have the latest packages and features.
A brilliant idea, but only adhered to by some.
Developers make packages for the OS, so why would Canonical delay the release of its next major upgrade to coincide with an application? That is the complete opposite of what Mark asked said developers to do.
To delay the release for one developer would only cause problems and bring about demands from other developers to delay future releases and we would not have access to an updated distro every 6 months. Which is a totally forward-thinking way to make sure that we DO in fact have the most recent and up-to-date packages and features.

I think b5 is pretty damn stable, but it would be nice if it wasn't "frozen" in to 8.04LTS... although it probably will be... would be nice if the package will be upgraded when 3.0 is released...
oh well I usually install it by hand anyway since the repo version is usually old.

I am very impatient to use ubuntu final but it is a good idea although it would be breaking much with the schedule and would fall heavily criticized by irresponsibility on ubuntu

Same is a good point, a final version can't have betas
+1

I'd say it's simpler to just leave FF2 as the default browser until 8.10...

However mozilla won't be supporting FF2 for much longer and 8.04 is a LTS release. Ubuntu probably doesn't want to support a unsupported FF version for the next 5 years.
