Rationale
After watching a documentary on BBC3 (a TV channel that does not have any product advertising at all) it occurred to me how much free advertising Microsoft gets based on their default Windows logo screensaver.
During a 1 hour documentary I'd say Microsoft got around 3-4 minutes of free advertising during interviews with people sat at their desk's by their computer screens.
Currently the default Ubuntu screensaver is blank, and although some people might have an issue with this, I feel that it would be another good way to promote Ubuntu in the same way that M$ promotes Windows.
Very nice idea! A definite +1! Let's definitely promote this! BTW, lsdark's idea is also very good, I'd love to have an Ubuntu screensaver to use at work.
This is a great idea! I like the Ubuntu logo screensaver, but for this to actually work as (effective) advertisement, there needs to be text people can remember and search for. So, logo + "Ubuntu" is a must. But in my opinion it would be even better if we could promote more than just Ubuntu, but Linux as a whole. So my idea is that the screensaver should include the logo + the words "Ubuntu Linux".
I like the idea of creating an Ubuntu screen saver, but please keep the default to blank screen. There is nothing more annoying than your computer screen playing animations when you try concentrating on something else.
Displaying an Ubuntu logo as a screensaver to get some advertising is a fine idea. I see no problem with it being the default, as long as the delay for it to start is reasonable (eg. 10 minutes).
Unlike what other people here said, I think it has to be the logo + Ubuntu. Putting in the word "Linux" is just adding complexity to those who don't know it, and scares off those who know only a little. Besides, we are trying to market an OS, not a specific component of it, that may or may not be used by other OSs as well.

We've moved the ubuntu screensaver into two other packages and unfortunately there was a lag in this process. The ubuntu screensaver should be back soon.
