Idea #6141: Add "About this Computer" to System menu

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #4848: Better Hardware Profile Manager.
Written by masterpi the 31 Mar 08 at 04:31. Category: System. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Right under About Gnome and About Ubuntu it would be very useful to have "About this Computer" or something similar which would open up the system monitor to the first tab displaying system information. Right now the system monitor is buried in the System Tools menu (Hardy), and keeps changing location in each release. Leave the one that's currently there, as "System Monitor", but also add this one for convenient access and notability. It would enable users to find the system information and monitor much more easily, while not confusing them with the process list right away.

While I don't necessarily agree with the exact phrasing and the location, it indeed would be nice with a "System Information" tool that has information about the hardware. CPU, RAM, HDD, etc.
