Description
Azureus ( http://azureus.sourceforge.net) in ubuntu repositories is still in version 2.5.0.4 while there is already version 3.0.5.0 available for linux!
I think it would be nice to include the latest version in the repos, or both, if they still want to offer the older version, with the classic interface...
[edit] To anyone interested on how to make the prety link:
It is used with html code, I can't post it here because it would not be displayed (would be interpreted, as expected) you can see about it here.

Azureus did a major upgrade of the UI for Azureus 3 that not everyone wants. Personally I prefer the way it is, although possibly making version 3 in the repos for those who want it.

Sure, the UI is different and I prefer the classcic one, but in the latest version (3), we have the option to choose the classic interface, so everybody wins if version 3 is in the repos, (or both)...
It's always good and important to have the software up to date...

Well, I don't mind having version 3( also called Vuze and formerly Zudeo) in the repositories, but Azureus version 2 has to stay, as long as it is still maintained by the Azureus developers.

Yeah, Ubuntu could just include v3 and use the Azureus setting to keep the v2-style interface by default -- that way everyone's happy.

i am running version 3.0.5.2 and it looks exactly like 2.xxx once you go in classic interface under tools->options->inteface->start->display azureus ui chooser!
+1 for version 3.0.5.2 in repo (and keep 2.5.0.4 if you really want, but i cannot see the point!)

Foe is right, theres no reason to keep v2, because v3 can be made to look the same.
And alberge, that makes no sense, people who prefer the V2 interface should switch.. Not vice versa

This is a packaging request. Packaging requests should be asked in launchpad where packagers can see and take the job. Attaching bug 128525, thanks!

PS: The bug is currently assigned to John Dong, which did a very good work with latest 2.5.0.4 azureus. Azureus package is very complicate and it might take a certain amount of time before v3 gets in ubuntu repositories IMO.
