Description
i have cheap hardware(not cheap) but not popular brands
for my tv tuner(analog) and network (techcom supertv and
hanzou silan Ethernet card).these type of hardware is widely
available in India and Asia.people in Us and Europe use
most popular brands like net gear,dlink,3dom,broad com etc.
although motherboard people well known brands like Intel
and amd are known to everyone but new users dont know
much about unpopular brands and fall trap to buy them like
me.i thought most of the hardware will work.every user is
frustrated with linux and its hardware support.just saw
old review of ubuntu on dell pcs review in BBC.COM
"average user/they say linux doesn't work on most hardware "
"make it a myth not fact".

Hardware support in Linux is actually pretty good.
Linux actually support more hardware than Windows.

Linux needs to improve in Wi-Fi though. We're pretty weak there.

We also need some improvements in graphics. The drivers need better performance.

You can also contact hardware vendors and friendly request better support for Linux.

Wired Ethernet cards usually work. Intel, 3Com, Broadcom, D-Link, Netgear, etc should work.

3Com have high-quality network cards that work well.
Intel make good stuff and their stuff usually work.

Don't expect too much from assholes like Creative though.

I vote you! I base my Ubuntu spreading on "Hey! you can fix your old pc without the needing of thousand cds of Drivers!"
