PackageKit is already in Hardy! Seems to be a unified Packagemanager for different Package Management Systems. (RPM, DEB, etc.)

fragro: it is. It uses backends like APT, Yum etc. and provides one and the same interface for all. That's good piece of software :) .

I wish people would give a little bit of background on these ideas. When posting an idea I you need at least these 3 things. 1. what in Ubuntu needs to be better; 2. what you think needs to be done to fix this; 3. how this fixes the problem. This will give anyone browsing brainstorm enough information to make an educated vote. I believe that this in turn will increase the score of an idea like this one. If I come across an idea like this I view it as not being complete and tend to vote it down, unless of course the poster is lucky enough that I know exactly what they're talking about and happen to strongly agree.

Anybody reading this please note: If you're about to post an idea with only one or two sentences, ask yourself if everyone that reads this site will know what in the heck you are talking about. You can't assume that just because you've had problems with a particular item (wireless, sound, program installation, bluetooth etc..) everybody else should know as much as you do.
