Rationale
It drives me insane when I try and mount other peoples NTFS Usb drives and they were not properly shut down by Windows. (I hardly ever run Windows now)
Ubiuntu comes up with a message saying something like; go back to the windows machine reinstall and then shut down again.
Or go to a terminal and type a heap of "FORCE" instructions to mount the USB NTFS hard drive.
Why cant we just have a force button on the cant mount error message that we can press and it does the terminal commands for us. I realise it has the possibility of NTFS errors occurring but so does forcing it through the terminal commands.
The difference is that YOU know the risks you face when you force a mount. what's joe public going to blame when he uses his USB stick with Ubuntu and he loses all his files?
I think a better option is to come up with an open source checkdisk utility for NTFS volumes so that unsafely mounted volumes can be properly repaired, rather than subjected to a somewhat risky forced mount.
