it would be greate to get it over update in gutsy

Ubuntu never does version upgrade for previous releases.
The only way to get OOo 2.4 in Gutsy would be to file a backport request and find someone willing to do the backport (if a backport is possible).

Wha? Is Gutsy already considered a "previous release"?
(sorry if I miunderstood it)

He meant to say: "Ubuntu never does version upgrades for a current release".

Canonical only ever includes new packages in upcoming versions of Ubuntu. Once 8.04 officially ships in April, it won't upgrade any packages anymore either.

The exception is security updates.

That said, in a few weeks you'll get a message from your Update Manager asking if you want to upgrade to Hardy Heron. Then you'll get OpenOffice 2.4 automatically.

Actual OpenOffice release in ubuntu hardy is 2.4 . The splash screen still says 2.3.. but it's 2.4.

Its 2.4 rc. I think he meant to fully update to the official release packages.
