Rationale
Using a mouse wheel to scroll in Windows has always had acceleration, so the faster you move the wheel the more the scroll distance increases.
Mouse cursor movement uses (configurable) acceleration, so I can't understand why this feature is lacking in the wheel (admittedly as with all other distros to my knowledge)
I find this provides a much more responsive feel to using the scroll wheel in any application, especially in a web browser
I don't think this is a dupe of #3214, since acceleration is different to linear movement of the wheel. It would be nice to have both configurable speed and acceleration, though
This is NOT a duplicate of #3214. Who's the sloppy b*stard that said this is a duplicate? How can we remove this duplicate association?
I miss windows' mouse wheel acceleration so much, AFAIK it's an exclusive feature of Microsoft IntelliPoint mouse drivers (I don't remember Logitech drivers having mouse wheel acceleration, but I could be wrong, they might have it by now).
It would be great if Ubuntu had something like this out of the box: if you scroll slowly, it moves less lines at a time, if you scroll faster, many more lines.
Thanks Nicolas, from the Ubuntu Brainstorm Dev team, for removing the duplicate association.
I'm not sure how many users are familiar with the convenience of mouse wheel acceleration, I hope that those who are, vote for this idea so Ubuntu users can realize what they've been missing out on.
I must be missing something (or I'm just plain stupid), but I can't find out how to vote?!?!? Yes, I'm logged in. Is 'bookmarking' the same as voting? (Would be terribly confusing if it is!)
I know, I wanna vote on this damned thing too but can't... It's almost as if they accept it once it reaches votes, but they remove voting after it's put in development.
