Idea #585: Add TABS to the Nautilus File Manager (Ctrl-T)

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #90: Tabbed Nautilus.
Written by bossmanbeta the 29 Feb 08 at 03:07. Category: System. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Having the ability (like in Firefox) to type Ctrl-T in Nautilus and open tabs to allow for (1) window, with multiple tabs to different directories would GREATLY simplify my desktop!

It should also be configurable to set a default directory to open When opening a fresh tab, as well as offer the option to drag a tab out into its own window.

There's a separate application that allows this called "PCman file manager", but it is a separate application that must be run separately and it's not integrated or as versatile as Nautilus.

the upstream spatial nautilus is a beautiful thing.

your left hand rides left shift, and your right hand drives the mouse. it is simply divine.

try it.
