Description
NX screen sharing technology is so fast! Although the current Ubuntu LTSP desktop service works fine over an wired LAN, clients connected over wireless bridges are useless. FreeNX would not only allow for wireless thin clients, but also fast and secure remote sessions over the internet, even over a dial-up connection!

FreeNX also supports session saving, pausing, and resuming. Please integrate it into LTSP! Don't replace LTSP, or simply offer both, integrate it! It really wouldn't be that hard! FreeNX develops a client library (nxcl) which could be easily integrated into the Ubuntu LTSP Display Manager LDM, to connect to a FreeNX daemon running on the Ubuntu LTSP server.

Everyone! Please promote this even if it doesn't apply exactly to your use case! It will greatly increase Ubuntu's commercial appeal which brings more smiles all around! Even if you didn't understand the first two paragraphs I wrote just think about having the ability to connect unlimited numbers of small computers to a Ubuntu desktop server over wired or wireless networks and even all around the world through the internet.

FreeNX is open source and works better than the system Ubuntu currently has in place. It's time to switch.

Yes I think this would be an excellent addition for Education. Especially in the youth care area were resources are low and having the ability to connect think clients via the internet would allow for centralized management and lower support costs.

Awesome!!!

This would be great for our corporation. We have wanted to be able to do allow users to log into our thinclient server from home for a while now, perhaps over a vnc, but bandwidth has always been a problem.
