Idea #583: Better clipboard support for scalable graphics (EPS, SVG, WMF)

Written by telluric the 29 Feb 08 at 03:04. Category: Graphics. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Very few applications are designed to exchange scalable figures/graphics through the clipboard mechanism. Often I have to resort to using bitmapped data (JPG, PNG, etc.) and live with the lousy print resolution, or save to file as well as debug various format problems. Very early on the Mac had the ability to copy/paste PICT's, and more recently a PDF-based format. The Windows world has WMF/EMF. Why not in Linux as well??

I don't see how this is Ubuntu related :)

Anyway, Inkscape 0.47 will feature a much better clipboard system (it already has it as of SVN trunk).
