Description
I'd like a way to backup my entire system with all the settings and packages to a bootable ISO file. So that I can re-install or install on other computers.

You can do that for packages using aptoncd or by manually copying /var/cache/apt/archives and installing the packages (or make a simple script) - but really aptoncd is a good bet.

Good idea, buts not adding a lot to linux. I think we better use our resources for better ideas at the moment.

What do you mean "better ideas at the moment?" This is one of those ideas that is 99% of the way there, only it just needs to be packaged up nicely into a meta package, polished a bit, and its there.
This kind of thing really could be the killer app, and just look at Apple, all the Machead fans are drooling over time machine, and on Linux, backups are a headache for new users. Where to start? how do I start? etc?

Ya, maybe ubuntu could work with LinuxMint to help bring the reliability up a little and then make a GUI
