Description
I think this would be great, Mandriva already does this, and it would be nice to have ubuntu booting from a usb flash drive, sure I can make my own, but one with ubuntu logo in it, and all the system already installed would be awesome!
Many people could buy it just to see what ubuntu is, and if they don't like or don't need it, they could just use the drive for another purpose with no loss, since they only paid for the hardware, not the software...

I agree if this could be an additional source of revenue.

scratchy - cannot read something other than English.

Edlmannen - you've found a USB drive with an Ubuntu logo, but not with Ubuntu preinstalled.

Why would you buy a USB stick with ubuntu installed, when you can buy a brand new one (with probably higher capacity and cheaper), for a few measily bucks, without having to wait a week for it arrive.

I vote +0, because whilst more merchandise is always good, I'm not totally convinced people will want to pay a premium for a USB flash drive, which costs twice the amount (it would be easier just to set up donations).

When you need a usb stick, you need a usb stick.. Everywhere sells them these days, so there is too much competition

a usb drive would be good , as people wont need to install the operating system on their drive , and just boot into it.
it would be much faster than the live cd.

usb drives are getting cheaper and a high speed drive would make a good companion which you can take along instead of your whole laptop. nowadays computers are everywhere but your choice of your o.s isnt.

it could also have an option to install on hard drive.

it should be able to work like a normal install , ie. you can install your own software.

and when the user installs it on their hdd , they should have an option to either do a clean install or install it with the software.

this would alsomake a good rescue device

if this idea is implimented then it should also be marketed well.

I will maybe vote for it,
but I think to simplify USB instalation in general would be more urgent than buying a dedicated Ubuntu flash drive.
See Idea #470 (simplify install from USB, provide windows utility)

Eldmannen: I think a product of this nature would cater to a niche market at best. However, it's still a cool idea.
