I had the same issue in the past, so annoying!

How can this be possible? I mean, kubuntu and ubuntu use the same linux kernels and modules (drivers).. I think that the restricted driver manager does not exist in Kubuntu, isn't that the real issue?

Otherwise, unless I'm wrong, the problem is probably caused by Kde itself which does not handle Wireless cards correctly?

That is indeed weird. Are you sure about this?

dragoninsane wrote on the 26 Mar 08 at 12:27
dead sure, lan card detected by ubuntu nothing in kubuntu.

Can you open a bug report about this in launchpad.net and subscribe me (saivann)? This is indeed very weird but I wonder if this idea is not in fact a bug. It would give more chance to this problem to get fixed if we gather more informations about it on a bug report that can be consulted by developers.

Normally, wireless and wire network components are managed by linux kernel which contains all drivers (modules) for them. Some cards need additional restricted drivers which are in linux-restricted-modules, but the kernel and the modules are the same in kubuntu. That sounds like your wireless cards are properly handled by the kernel and are ready to work, but no graphical tool detect it.

i already posted bugs about my card,i.e hanzou
silan nic ethernet card, after tweaking all that
stuff including making modules inserting in
ubuntu now i can connect to net, mine is 24online
client popular internet broadband in asia, india,
bangladesh,pakistan etc,iam in india though.i have
lan dhcp connection but i used static connection
setting because ubuntu doesnt get my ip from dhcp
server.

Can you give me a link to that bug? I believe that this issue will get more chances to be fixed as a bug since it is probably a bug. And if it is not, the bug report will help us finding what is the real cause, and we will be able to update the idea description to represent the real problem.

I looked at these two bugs and none of these bugs describe a issue specific to kubuntu, we should not mix up different bugs. Did you open a bug concerning your issue (which is, according to the description of this idea, wireless card not detected in kubuntu but working in ubuntu)?

first of all wired connection, not wireless again
regarding kubuntu,i need to fill bugs for every
issue.my previous issue is not corrected with ubuntu
,implies it also doesnt get detected with kubuntu?
