Rationale
Have a minimal number of default applications to get up and running on Ubuntu; add an Advanced button for the advanced user so that he can CHOOSE, by APPLICATION NAME, which specific applications that he wishes to install. If he doesn't press the Advanced button, install the minimal number of applications.
vexorian, I know that it already installs a minimal number of applications. The point of my comment was aimed at those who want THIS application and THAT application to be installed as DEFAULT, increasing by manyfold the number of DEFAULT applications. I have installed other distros of Linux that ASK you to pick which apps that you want to install. I thought that an ADVANCED button at install time could take care of both segments, the newbie and the advanced user.
