Idea #5495: A continuous Ubuntu development distro

Written by angrykeyboarder the 23 Mar 08 at 14:35. Category: Others. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Debian has Sid
Fedora has Rawhide
Mandriva has Cooker
openSUSE has Factory
Ubuntu has.....?

:)

Among other things, this would provide those who like to live on the "bleeding edge" with the ability to use Ubuntu but run the "latest and greatest" software.

It might also encourage more developers to start with Ubuntu rather than Debian (then Debian could sync with Ubuntu for a change)..

There are a number of programs out there that are in many distros but are missing from both Debian and Ubuntu (e.g. Cinelerra).

Backports? I guess that's the option for those who don't think an update every six months is enough.

there is the bleeding edge repos, ive forgotten the name tho, but simply add it and you have a rolling release 'disto'

So why is this such a bad idea that it rated -25 (as of this writing)?
