Description
windows created some native formats like chm,MHT etc
these are pretty mostly available file formats in
windows environment,and all my files are scattered in my
disk(most of users do).so now how does ubuntu handles
them CHM -no native support,MHT its internet explorer
created file but nothing handles it even Firefox doesnt.
i think chm can be made to view inside evince also,
firefox can handle mht.

opera handles mht perfectly and it is available for any platform basically.
also if you do a search in synaptic or something, you can find dozens of chm viewers, like gnochm.
there is native support you just have to "enable" them by installing

Opera is proprietary so it is not an answer.
CHM support is great in Ubuntu, gnochm is in the repos and works quite well. I am not sure if it should be included in by default, another possibility would be to merge gnochm work into the gnome viewer.
There is a console tool I use to convert .chm files into html by extracting everything, that's better.

Either way, even if it was proprietary, I couldn't care less.
Some people NEED support for MHT/CHM, because there are many files on the internet which use it. Adding read only support wont lock people into these formats either.
Unless you guys propose combing all of the internet and peoples hard-disks converting the files for people? I didn't think so..
