Description
A default GUI for PulseAudio would be great, the ability to control the volume for each program is a very useful thing...
[edit] For those who want it, just install padevchooser (PulseAudio Device Chooser) through synaptic, it also install all the other packages needed...

I think there are some GUI in development. If you go to there website and look in the Related Software in the About area of the website. There's nothing out yet. But I think there in the works.
And I would like a better audio manager so when I turn the vol. down on a closed program it carries over to the other.

A GUI for pulseaudio already exists. Just install the package padevchooser from the repositories.
But I agree that it should be installed by default. So +1 from me here.

+1. If its already coded, it shouldn't be much effort. And anything that helps users is great

-1 PulseAudio don't bring anything new. If you have a soundcard with hardware mixing, why would you need another process running?
Alsa just do the job!

Pulseaudio is replacing ALSA in 8.04.
Features it brings that are new:

I think they already had a UI freeze, it would have to come in 8.10

The GUIs for PulseAudio are:
padevchooser paman paprefs pavucontrol pavumeter
And for info fluteflute, PulseAudio doesn't replace ALSA at all, but is a sublayer of PA.
it's the same problem with compiz and compiz settings manager, you have a killer app and nothing to control it

This missing GUI needst to be integrated with the window manager, so you can control the volume of an app right from its window (possibly in the right-click menu of the window, or like a slider in emerald or other fancy window decorators). But the current volume control is needed too, for example for apps that run in fullscreen (or other window-less mode).

Yes, OBVIOUSLY the GUI and all GUI user controls MUST be installed BY DEFAULT.
What were they thinking?

I am a person who doesn't like to tackle the system volume a lot. I used to set to a reasonable level and then I leave it that way for good. I set the volume separately for my music player and video player - which by default have these controls for their volume levels. It would be very nice to have this functionality for every app more easily and without using external tools (external from the app's point of view).
I would like to see a GUI for pulseaudio - besides what already exists, and it's quite usable - that is integrated into the window decorator just like the minimize/maximize/close buttons are. I imagined a little volume controller just like the one on the panel. Maybe we could have it on the opposite side to where the minimize/maximize/close buttons are.
This would be extremely useful, because pulseaudio already remembers the volume set for individual applications even if they are closed then reopened later.
Having per-application volume control is only useful if you can control it right from the app's window. Having to use a different/external/separately started tool - which is the current pulseaudio volume controller - the whole purpose of per-application volume control is defeated (almost).
