Just do a:

unlink ~/Examples

Removing it from nautilus should just work as well, if not, that's a bug. Nautilus should be able to unlink symbolic links.

instead of openoffice examples, add some tutorials with pictures.

some gnome tutorials are need too. You think gnome is so easy? well it's not it takes weeks or months to learn

-How to install programs (it's should be clear that it's not like windows where you get all your programs from the devs website)

-What are restricted extras and how to install them

-Nautilus and file system tutorials (once again, is not the same as windows)

-Gimp beginners tutorial (it's included with ubuntu or not)

-System tools and preference tutorials

people think that if they fiddle around with their OS it will break (and most times it does), so a few tutorials will show them basic stuff without them breaking anything and fear ubuntu.

For example, i've got a Creative X-Fi soundcard, and it was pretty difficult to get working until i found a HOWTO. Having the example files already there was a useful diagnostic tool, because i know that there won't be any codec issues (like with .mp3 etc) that's stopping the playback.

But they do need an update, and there could probably be less of them as well. At the moment there are duplicates of file types (multiple pictures for example, i cant remember which format - png?).
