Description
There is a need for a dead easy website creation program.

Nowadays everyone has to have his or her own website, but only few people are willing to learn to code to get one. On the forums, people ask for a program to build websites without the need for a brain.

There should be a template driven website builder with the possibility to easily add a blog page, photo gallery, downloads page, contact forms, automatically build menu.... without having to know a single line of html, css, JavaScript or php.

It should have the basic features to build a website and only these basic features. There are other (great) alternatives for more advanced web designers, but this could be useful for them too 'cause it's so easy and fast to add stuff to the website.

The way I see it, people would be able to make templates and upload them to the project's site. There could be competitions for the templates included in the program itself,... but I'm thinking to far now.

As far as I know, Windows doesn't have this either. So this could be a huge advantage for Ubuntu and Linux in general.
I don't like comparing, but for OSX there's the popular Rapidweaver ( http://www.realmacsoftware.com/rapidweaver/ ) that does want I just described.

For the record, I do know that this isn't really an Ubuntu issue. But still... it's an idea, right?

Thanks for reading!

Just create a blog or buy a domain with easy web start programs.

People talk about apps going online like doing word processing with Google Writer but I think more so than anything you can expect web design to be the sort of thing done exclusively online (unless you are a pro).

Give NVU a try, for a complete solution I would look to the companies pushing web 2.0 stuff. You could just get a myspace or facebook page.

You have to learn basics, anyway.

We need to have something like iWeb on Mac. Easy page/Photo Album/Calendar/CV.. creation and publication.
It would be tightly integrated with other apps, would include dead simple ftp configuration (and pre-filled configuration for the major ISPs)
Basically we need a tool enabling easy sharing of your work on a http website, without being forced to use an online service. It should be even easier than Nvu and Composer

That's what I'm talking about pierre!
An offline tool has advantages.

* I'm on a long trainride... No problem, 'cause I can just work on my website and upload the changes later!

* I have a slow internet connection and working with images takes ages. If I could just do my work really fast and then just let it upload on it's own.

Either learn or get professionals to do it. Or get a CMS such as drupal(these are easy unless you are am idiot) . Or get some templates if you do not require server side. In my experience WYSIYWG's are shit. They churn out shit code and the people who use them make shit looking and shit structured websites which are generally shit. SHIT SHIT SHIT.-1.

I like the idea of a decent web editor, such as a Dreamweaver replacement, since KompoZer/NVu isn't really what I would like. On the other side, an application similar to iWeb? I 'used' - opened it out of curiosity - that once, and it looks to me like some offline version of websites like myspace, facebook, blogger, drupal, ...
However, for people with a low bandwith, something like iWeb would indeed be very nice.
