Rationale
For those that are installing on a lot of machines with no internet connection, a regularly updated collection of common updates for installation from CD/DVD/USB would be handy.
I don't see why this is being marked down, its not a bad idea and shouldn't be difficult to do (just need to make sure you get the depends right, but no reason you cant code a script to do that)
+1
Updated packages may also bring new wireless support for instance, so I think this could help some people
i dunno... Good idea but difficult to do..
I personally think it's good (i have second computer without net, too) but new version of ubuntu comes every half year so i vote -1
I think ideao #4255 is better because a re-mastered ISO can be used to update AND to install too.
Additionnal update CD can make things more confusing for new users and more complicated for someone that want to make a fresh install on a PC with a slow connection : downloading a "refreshed" ISO is better than download original ISO + updates or update CD.
I agree an updated version of the Ubuntu CD itself would be better than this "Ubuntu 8.04 Service Pack 3" approach. I'd much rather see updated "Ubuntu 8.04.1" installation CDs which you can also update from.
