bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #186: Integrate restricted audio drivers.

Rationale
well.. I wanna to be free.. I wanna play my guitar.. I wanna record my band..
I wanna use linux for this..
In my opinion we need more support for devices like..external audio cards..digital and multitracks firewire/usb mixers..
And also a better documentation... maybe a newbie can't understand every step to install the things..
C'mon Linux now is really User-friendly (compared to the past)
A lot of people say "I'm buyng a OSX becouse with the audio..bla bla bla" .. but this is also for graphic application..
I want to use ubuntu!
Ciao!have a nice day!

Ubuntu should improve its Audio and Video quality and support!

If this is an issue, yeah, sure. I don't know that much about external soundcars. I thought most of it worked fine. But still, it is an issue of checking for supported hardware before going shopping. Mac-owners would check for mac-support so Ubuntu-people could do the same.
