Rationale
Someone needs to develop additional authentication methods to help secure your system, inducing:
* fingerprint scanner support
* voice print scanner via microphone
* optical scanner via webcam
The additional methods should not replace the standard keyboard password currently used (just in case your hardware fails and you can't get into your system). Most common devices should be supported (like the digitech fingerprint reader).
A good implementation method would be to have an authenticated method act as a "backdoor" to the current password. So if the image/wave is good then you don't need a password, you are let into the system. You could also use the same security program to authenticate all passwords on your system (internet usernames and passwords, root password, etc...)
I would like to point out that idea #4539 is similar to this idea. However unlike idea #4539 I'm not suggesting that Ubuntu implement untested technology, just include support for existing alternate methods of authentication. I will concede that the idea of using the webcam for authentication is similar to idea #4539 and that is where I got the idea but I don't suggest using the same method as that idea but instead the idea of a eye picture or head picture to compare to (though both ideas will be very hard to implement). The key technology that should be implemented would be first off the findgerprint reader and second the voice recognition.
