Idea #4437: 2 PC in 1

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #3442: "Click-n-play" Multiseat support .
Written by killmess the 13 Mar 08 at 03:03. Category: Others. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
It's common to see computers with 2+ cores, dual head video cards, lot of usb ports, a monitor and a mouse.
Why don't have a PC with 2-4 core, good amount of ram, 2 keyboards, 2 mouses and 2 monitors? this way 2 persons can use the computer at the same time.
One only have to buy another keyboard, mouse and monitor or use old ones and it's done.
Less electrical bill, more economic than buy 2 computers, etc. and we will be one leap ahead of other OSs.

Waht does this have to do with Ubuntu?

munkyeetr wrote on the 13 Mar 08 at 04:32
Nothing to do with Ubuntu. Do a google search for Userful.

I believe it's already been done.... and buggy as heck too.

There'd have to be some sort of color coding to the cursors and you'd have to set up which keyboard typed at which mouse cursor prompt... but hmmm... sounds cool.

It IS called Brainstorm. Not Boring-Ideas-that-can-be-done-in-a-day.

A toast to your dreams.

And I remember seeing an earlier one of this

Great idea. Have seen some similar Linux environments doing the same. Even up to 6 KVM's connected to the machine (internet corner).

This would have the ability to drop the number of office PC's by let's say half.

Huge selling point for Ubuntu. Go for it.

o.o

Interesting idea. Strange idea.

This is cool in a geeky way, but not really something Id suggest a mainstream distro put a lot of effort into.

Cybercode, I'm not saying using the same monitor!
example, if you have a monitor and buy a new one, you have 2 monitors (the old and the new), You can use the new monitor and your brother(or whoever) can use the other.
