Description
Heron is needed to be "Hardy".
But with this tight release schedule, I have my concerns on that.
Beside the excellent work of the developers, too many bugs will be open until 24. April.
As suggestion:
Release Hardy on 24. April and on 5. June 8.04.1 as Hard-LTS.

In this way, early adopters can use hardy on time and LTS
users get a polished version a little bit later.

If the developers think the issues remaining cannot be resolved or worked around in time, they most probably will postpone the release. Not being an insider in the Ubuntu development team I am not qualified to judge the realism of a 8.04 release.

Besides, if the LTS was to be postponed to June it would be named 8.06. A separate non-LTS 8.04 release would only be silly.

If Hardy is anything like Dapper, there will be 8.04.x bugfix releases eventually if there are important enough bugs to fix. As said, if there are still critical bugs by release time it will be postponed.

Your suggestion is exactly what is in the Hardy release schedule https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardyReleaseSchedule

- release 8.04 on April 24th
- release 8.04.1 on June 5th

So why are you submitting this as an idea?
