Idea #414: Include AptOnCD

Written by scorpfromhell the 29 Feb 08 at 01:40. Category: System. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
APTOnCD is a very useful app to create "service disks" containing the updates, which can be distributed to places where internet has not penetrated.

I find it very useful for my objectives in Prajna, a volunteer group that provides and/or sets up computer labs for poor schools in India.

For the few people that need it, apt-get install aptoncd seems like it would do the trick. You need an internet connection to use aptoncd anyway, so apt-getting it should be no problem.

I sure can "get" it on my system and also use it create the CDs. But I need APTOnCD on the target systems in the remote locations to use the CDs created with APTOnCD.

Currently I need to carry the deb file for APTOnCD separately with me to install it after setting up Edubuntu. And after setting up APTOnCD, I get to use the other CDs created on my machine at home.
