Description
Ubuntu does not incorporate Tux into any artwork. He's not in the splash, he's not on the login screen, he's not even on the desktop.
In fact, he's not in any of the default set of artwork for any of these things.
I, for one, love Tux. I'd like to see more of him, and I'm sure others do as well. Frankly, I'm quite disappointed to see Ubuntu neglecting my favorite mascot.

I actually like that Ubuntu uses its own branding rather than generic Linux branding. It's a nice touch.

I like the character tux but I wouldn't want to see him in the theme personally, he stands out too much due to high color contrast: black, white and yellow. Maybe if only the icon was kept and the color changed, it would be usable for a theme.

While I like Tux a lot, and think that he's a particularly fun mascot, I'm not sure that it would be helpful to complicate Ubuntu's branding with another logo (not to mention one that doesn't fit with Ubuntu's colour scheme).
Additionally, I can just see the flame wars that will ensue as a new user starts talking about the "Ubuntu Penguin" on digg or /.

I love tux. I think he should be incorporated, but make the branding small and tasteful.
Maybe in the bottom corner of the GDM login screen of him waving to you?
small, subtle, nice things like that.

I have nothing against Tux, but I thought there was enough of him already, if you really want him. Just look at all the wallpapers and such available.
I suspect that Ubuntu would rather keep the respectable look so it is taken more seriously. Edubuntu on the other hand, could definitely benefit from more Tux.

I generally dislike mascots but I think including the GNU and Linux logos would be a nice touch.
Perhaps they could be included in the system menu, below about ubuntu.
