Idea #397: Wireless Sync with BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Palm devices

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #28: Enhance mobile devices sync .
Written by greg.hagen the 29 Feb 08 at 01:33. Category: Office. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
People who use their Ubuntu machines in a business environment will need to sync their contacts and calendar information with many different mobile devices. There are really only a few steps that would have to be accomplished to do this:

1) Clean up the Opensync and SyncML plugin packages to work properly with Evolution by default.

2) Set up an official Ubuntu SyncML server for Ubuntu users.

3) Possibly clean up open source SyncML clients for the different mobile platforms.

This will effectively circumvent the lack of support for the Linux environment by most PDA and Smartphone developers.

Exactly. Have a Nokia E65, after hours it worked. But then I had every event duplicated in my calendar. Very ugly! Thus yeah: Should be improved!

Same with an ipaq 3715. I could do some synchros but once in one way, another time in the other, like randomly. I didn't find an easy way of configuring multisync.
It's still not user friendly

Thanks for this great idea. I set it as a duplicate because idea 28 already has more votes but I will forward the suggestions from your description. Thanks!
